test mic on ubuntu
How do you record your sound via mic i.e. which software can be used to test microphone?
First thing you can try is to simply unmute and raise the volume of the mic:
* Run 'alsamixer' (or some other front-end of your choice).
* Use the right arrow key to move the highlighting to "Mic".
* Press 'M' to unmute.
* Use the up arrow key to raise the volume.
ALSA should now direct your microphone input to your speakers so you should hear whatever goes in. To quit 'alsamixer', press 'Esc'.
To record, 'wavrec' should do the trick.
